Description:

As the COVID-19 crisis continues its devastating impact on the lives of billions, it raises a number of legal and regulatory dimensions that policymakers must deal with. Issues to be considered include the pandemic’s severe commercial and contractual disruptions; its impacts on legal and judicial systems; various labor and employment concerns; health policy dimensions like testing, manufacture, and trade in medical equipment, trials, development, and distribution of drugs and vaccines; and data protection and privacy issues such as contact tracing and surveillance. This session will explore how policymakers and legal systems around the world are grappling with these issues as countries attempt to contain, mitigate, and recover from the crisis.
