My review (rather comparison) of Madhav Godbole’s new book, Judiciary & Governance in India with Searching for Success in Judicial Reform, an edited volume brought out by Asia Pacific Judicial Reform Forum. While Godbole’s book is that of a critic, the APJRF book is something of an apologia. I found Godbole’s book useful especially for compiling PIL cases filed across India. For those intending to write a follow-up on the PIL cases in the light of the SC decision (and after) in the Aravali case, it may be the right book to start with. Readers, looking for an exhaustive and comprehensive analysis of these cases, will however, find his book disappointing.
