According to a notification in the Official Gazette dated December 19, 2013, the much awaited and rather controversial Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, commonly referred to as the Land Acquisition Act, has become effective as of January 1, 2014. The Draft Rules for Implementing the Act are also available here. The Ministry is open to receiving comments from the public on the Rules.
