James Laine case in Supreme Court: An update

The Maharashtra Govt’s SLP against the Bombay High Court’s lifting of the ban on the book Shivaji, written by James Laine came up for hearing before Justices Arijit Pasayat and Mukundakam Sharma on July 15. Ms.Kamini Jaiswal submitted that she had instructions to appear for James Laine. During the last hearing, the Court ordered issue of notice to Laine, to find out whether he would be aggreable to deletions of certain paragraphs in his book found objectionable by the State Government to meet “ends of justice”. The matter will now be heard after four weeks.
